This volume is designed to educate electrical instrumentation and measurements to students in electrical engineering and related disciplines. It underlines the importance of quantitative knowledge and of acquiring experience in conducting measurements, as much as the inevitable role of accuracy and error. With a pleasant presentation style, this book provides a complete learning module on the topic. Every chapter starts with a summary, related to the subject, and concludes with worked examples, exercises, answers, and homework questions. Besides a good explanation of the basics, magnetic measurements are treated with special attention, as they are vital for the design, development and analysis of electrical machines and equipment. Moreover, the measurement of non-electrical quantities, which particularly involves electrical means for medical scanning and imaging, is included. In addition to the essentials, special subjects, such as magnetism, electricity and electromagnetism, electrical circuit analysis, and visual display and analyses are  extensively discussed. By origin, the use of mathematical treatments is essential in some chapters. With a priority emphasis on the concepts of measurement, the level of math has been kept as simple as possible. Suited as a textbook for courses in electrical engineering and related disciplines and as a reference guide for practitioners.

Dr. S. C. Bhargava was educated at the University of Jodhpur and the University of Roorkee in Power System Engineering, and earned his PhD degree the University of
Aston in Birmingham, UK. During his career, he worked at various engineering companies in South East Asia and India and specialized in electromagnetic phenomena.
His research specialisation is the application of power-frequency electromagnetic fields formulations to the study and analyses of electrical machines, transformers and turbogenerators, using Finite Element techniques and developing relevant computer programs. He nowadays focuses on “Biological Effects of Power-frequency Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs). In the last twenty years, he developed a passion for education and made an attempt to bring the subject over to both the student and the more general audience. He has published many research papers and also articles of general interest in popular magazines and newspapers. Dr Bhargava has been actively associated with the Hyderabad Section of the IEEE for over 25 years, was the Chairman of this Section for a period, and was a the helm of many national and international events, and of the formation of IEEE student branches throughout India.
